Baklava
Ingredients
Filling
- 2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 18 oz nut mix
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 8 oz / 16 tbsp / 2 sticks butter
- Phyllo
- (Optional) Allspice?
Syrup
- 1 cup honey
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 Fresh orange peel
- Drop of lemon juice?
Prep
- 9x13x2 Pan
- Butter brush
- Food processor
- Saucepan for butter
Steps
- Throw all that syrup shit into a pan
- Boil, then low heat for 5-10 minutes
- Let cool off to the side
- Heat oven 350 F
- Add nuts, sugar, spices into food processor, pulse
- Clarify butter
- Melt over low heat
- Skim foam off top
- (Trim phyllo sheets to pan if they don't fit)
- Cover sheets with plastic wrap, then damp towel
- Brush pan and assemble
- Every time you lay a sheet, brush
- 10 - nut - 6 - nut - 6 - nut - 8
- Generous brush top
- Bake 45m-1 hour total (this says to cut half way through)
- Pour syrup all over right after taking out of oven
- Let sit at room temp, cover once cool
